UCSniff Overview

UCSniff is a VoIP & IP Video Security Assessment tool that integrates existing open source software into several useful features, allowing VoIP and IP Video owners and security professionals to rapidly test for the threat of unauthorized VoIP and Video Eavesdropping. Written in C/C++, and available on Linux and Windows, the software is free and available for anyone to download, under the GPLv3 license.

June 11, 2012:
UCSniff 3.20 is released

New developments:

  • Added support for Ubuntu 12.04
  • Realtime Video monitoring using latest libvlc library (2.0.1 - Twoflower)
  • Support for iSAC audio codec from Google's WebRTC
  • Added support for Cisco 9971 video phone eavesdropping
  • Lets users specify tool and options for mixing audio (WAV) and video (H264) files
  • Decoupled dependency on older FFMPpeg code so future updates to FFMPeg (now libav) and libvlc won't break UCSniff
  • Support for Cisco UCM 8.0.2 Skinny (SCCP)
  • Decoupled dependency on Ettercap's 'etter.conf'. UCSniff now uses it's own configuration file, 'ucsniff.conf'
  • New feature to add A/V mixing support (default disabled)
  • Builds (but no tested) in Mint Linux 13

June 3, 2011:
UCSniff 3.10 is released

New developments:

  • New GUI look and improvements, including Skin or Theme selection
  • Simplified installation instructions
  • Vastly improved speed and consistency of Realtime Video Monitor feature
  • Realtime Video monitoring using latest libvlc library (1.1.x)
  • Added support for Ubuntu 10.10 and 11.04
  • Realtime Audio Monitoring using ALSA library, as OSS (Open Sound System) is deprecated in Linux kernel 2.5 and later
  • Created static library for FFMpeg and x264, and statically linked UCSniff to this library, making configuration easier
  • Creating avi files for video calls doesn't require special configuration or installation of ffmpeg/x264 library

October 24, 2009:
UCSniff 3.0 is released!

This release has the following new features:

  • Realtime Video & Audio Monitor (Linux only)
  • New Codec support: G.729, G.723, G.726 (Linux only)
  • Windows port, including VLAN Support
  • GUI User Interface, including Windows and Linux
  • New Tool: VideoSnarf
  • Gratuitous ARP Disablement Bypass feature
  • New Skinny Support: Cisco UCM SCCP 7.0, 7.1 support
  • New attack vector feature: TFTP MitM Modification of IP Phone settings
